Evaluating Technology Use in the Classroom

A few colleagues and I have been charged with assisting schools and districts in evaluating the level of technology integration in classrooms and  providing teachers with models of how technology can be integrated throughout instruction in meaningful ways. The real issue is not if technology is used in the classroom, but whether or not technology is enhancing the learning process.

This blog post “Evaluating Technology Use in the Classroom” by Jeff Utecht peaked my interest because he refers to one of my favorite articles on the subject “Shaping Tech for the Classroom” by Marc Prensky.

Utecht asks “Is the technology creating new and different learning experiences for the students?” and “Is it a replacement for the way we do things or is it something completely new and pushes both the students and teacher to new heights, new learning, and new knowledge?”
