Every Child is Unique

As classes come to a close and we all have a few weeks to ponder on the successes and failures of the last school year, please take some time– just a few minutes– to watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8limRtHZPs

As an educator, parent, and grandparent, this video reminded me that every person is truly unique and each has very special talents and gifts — some are not typically recognized in school.  We have the obligation to recognize and celebrate those gifts and figure out a way to encourage use of those gifts in the classroom and in learning.  This summer we have time to figure that out–will I and will you?  After all, every child has a right to have their uniqueness recognized, don’t they?
