Wendy is the mother of three and grandmother of three. As Army BRATs, she and her siblings attended schools in several states and 2 foreign countries.

Wendy is currently the Student Services Coordinator for Garland ISD. In her capacity as Student Services Coordinator, she is responsible for Dropout Prevention and Recovery for the 22 secondary campuses in the district. She currently serves on a work group addressing the Senate Education Committee’s interim charge on truancy. During her tenure with GISD, she has been instrumental in the development of an automated attendance and court filing system and the establishment of a dedicated truancy court for the district, and successfully co-authored the Dropout Recovery Pilot Program Grant for the 2009-2010 school year. Prior to her return to public education, Wendy spent two years working with juvenile parolees with the Texas Youth Commission. As an Educational Liaison with TYC, she was responsible for the training of institutional caseworkers, educational leaders, and parole officers in the educational transition and statutory requirements for juvenile parolees.
