For all librarians serving young adults, Texas Teens 4 Libraries (TT4L) day will be held on *Thursday, April 10, 2014* during the Texas Library Association’s Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX.  The theme for TT4L  is *Read to Lead* and will highlight how libraries help to create leaders within their communities.

The deadline for registering for Texas Teens 4 Libraries *and *submitting contest essays will be *March 1, 2014 at midnight*.  This is a firm deadline, so mark your calendars and don’t be late!

TT4L will be a day long event this year with a  a separate ARC and author signing area just for teens.  There will also be *two* keynote addresses, one by author C.C. Hunter (St. Martin’s Griffin) and one by author Maggie Stiefvater (Scholastic).  We are trying something new this year and offering an essay contest.

The winner of the essay contest will receive one free visit from author C.C. Hunter to their school library or public library.  This contest will be open to all teens within the state of Texas and will require a sponsoring librarian.  The author visit is limited to within the state of Texas.

Check out the TT4L 2014 website at http://www.txla.org/groups/YART-texasteensin  for registration information and event details. Please note there will be a 5 to 1 teen to chaperone ratio that must be maintained at TT4L, so take the time now to start lining up all your chaperones.

I decided to take time at TLA just to see these teens in action and I am hooked.  This is now on my schedule of must-sees at TLA.  If you have direct contact with a group of teens, get involved and challenge your students!
